12 balls for a proposal goalkeeper-training!
To develop a work stimulus of the arms we thought to utilise soccer balls of same colour and size but of different weights. Before the work proposal we must understand the value of proprioceptivity for the superior limbs of the goal keeper. Specifically, it permits proper contact with the soccer ball in the right time and way. The right way does not regard just the "precision" factor, but includes the correct speed of action and the "correct force" to the ball. This factor determines the grip as well as the deviations. The balls of different weights obliges the last defender to use three different and specific adaptations. The first is seen during the throws. In fact, a light ball over a short distance, and at the same force, arrives before a heavy ball. This factor obliges our athlete to perform movements preceding contact with the ball at different speed, according to the weight of the ball thrown. This internal adaptation stimulates the correct choice of intervention (timing). The second stimulating factor regards the modulation in the correct degree of force to block the ball. In fact, we know that two equal and opposite forces cancel each other and it is this concept that some principles are tied to the technical act of catching the ball. In the sense, using different balls, means to train the arms to manage continuous variations of different forces. This internal adaptation stimulates the "sensitivity", of the articular proprioceptors (above all the "golgi" tendons) and pressure.
